FAIRFIELD, AL (WBRC) - A 3-year-old paralyzed child in Fairfield has it a little rougher thanks to a theft at his home. The thieves took the little boys wheelchair.
Jakarius is paralyzed from the waist down. His mother Crystal Williams says a year ago with the help of insurance she was able to get her son a wheelchair. She says it has been such a help.
The family usually leaves the chair on the front porch because it takes up too much space inside the house. On Thursday morning, Williams discovered someone had stolen the chair and she says losing it will make life tougher for her and her son.
"It's hard toting him around and pushing him in a stroller because I have to get him out and just do a lot of stuff and it's just tough," says Williams.
Williams says thankfully, police and Medicaid tell her the insurance company will replace the wheelchair when she provides a police report.
