Victim and shooter identified in Blue Bell shooting

SYLACAUGA, AL (WBRC) - The victim of an early morning shooting has now been identified. Police say the woman was shot and killed in the parking lot of Blue Bell Creameries in Sylacauga.

The Talladega County coroner tells FOX6 News that the victim of this morning's shooting was 38-year-old Shalanda Elaine Pope. Pope was found in a vehicle in the parking lot. Also in the car was alleged shooter Michael Millner.  Police say Millner shot Pope and then turned the gun on himself.  Pope died on the scene and Millner was airlifted to a hospital in Birmingham where he is undergoing surgery.

Sylacauga police say Pope and Millner were married at one time and this shooting is believed to be domestic.
Some employees who showed up for work at Blue Bell were visibly upset by the incident.

This case is still under investigation. Sylacauga police are working with the Talladega District Attorney and the Alabama Department of Forensic Science.
