Walker County man receives 10 years for child exploitation

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – A Walker County man was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Friday on charges of child exploitation.

50-year-old Charles William Elliott pleaded guilty in April to attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity, possessing child pornography and attempting to transfer obscene material to a minor.

Elliott's plea agreement says he used the internet to entice a 13-year-old girl to engage in sex at a motel and sent her sexually explicit images of himself and pornography showing sadistic sexual acts. The 13-year-old, unknown to Elliott, was actually a grown woman working for the organization "Perverted Justice," a group that works to put sexual predators behind bars. Perverted Justice contacted the authorities with the information they had gathered.

Authorities seized Elliott's computer and say they found numerous sexually explicit internet chat logs as well as several pornographic images. Twenty of images on the computer were child pornography.

Elliott is a Canadian citizen and may be deported after serving his prison sentence and registering as a sex offender.
