HUEYTOWN, AL (WBRC) - Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a double shooting out of Hueytown. It happened at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The victims of the shooting were two brothers who are 21 and 22-years-old. Their mother tells Fox 6 News the one was shot in the chest and the other in the leg. She says the shooting happened after her sons got into an altercation with her boyfriend.
According to the sheriff's office, the shooter was a 51-year-old man. Deputies say the man told them he was trying to defend the mother from her two sons who were assaulting her. The man says the two brothers then started attacking him and that is when he shot them.
The brothers were both taken to UAB Hospital. There condition is unknown. The shooter was taken to Cooper Green Hospital to be treated for the injuries he received during the assault.
No identities have been released at this time.
