BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Deliberations resumed Thursday in the trial of a man charged in the murder of a UAB student.
Alfred Marina is the last of three men charged with killing Kayla Fanaei just off the UAB campus in 2007.
Prosecutors say, while Marina did not shoot Fanaei, he was the lookout man. Defense attorneys say just because their client was at the scene, that does not make him guilty of a crime.
On Wednesday night, the jury left court undecided on a verdict.
Upon returning, the jury had some questions about the details of the law and the different murder charges being brought against Alfred Marina. The judge spent about an hour going over each charge and what the state had to prove to find Marina guilty. After explaining those charges in detail, the jury went back into deliberation.
