HOOVER, AL (WBRC) - Spain Park High School head football coach David Shores is on paid administrative leave following allegations that he was involved in an altercation with player.
Hoover's school board members met with officials from Spain Park Wednesday afternoon. The meeting came after a reported altercation between Shores and a player at Tuesday's practice.
Hoover's superintendent, Andy Craig, says the incident did involve physical contact between Coach Shores and a player.
"We had an incident at practice yesterday (Tuesday). It's a serious situation and our preliminary investigation resulted in placing him on administrative leave while we investigate further," Craig said. Adding, "to this point, it's preliminary. We'll conduct a more in-depth investigation over the coming days.
