BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Two people have been arrested in connection with the theft of several hundred pounds of copper from an aerospace supply company in McCalla.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, in a statement Friday to FOX6 News, said Roger Lavar Gamble, 28, of Bessemer, and Comonec Vashaun May, 34, of Bessemer, were arrested Tuesday trying to sell the copper.
Deputies said the men are suspects in two burglaries that happened at the company Sunday and Monday night. A detective, with the help of a local recycling company, caught the two men trying to sell the copper Tuesday. The copper, described by deputies as "high-dollar copper Aerospace pins," were said to be worth more than $5,000.
During the arrest, deputies said they also found pills in Gamble's possession and have since filed drug charges.
