LEEDS, AL (WBRC) - A new outlet mall in Leeds is expected to bring not only bargains, but hundreds of new jobs. The Shops of Grand River is slated to open October 28th.
It will include more than 40 shops including Polo-Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers, Banana Republic, Talbots, and Chico's.
"To shop at a center like this, you've got to go to Atlanta, Nashville, or the coast to have an upscale factory outlet," said Doug Neil, vice president of the Daniel Corporation, which is developing the site.
"We think it will be a very popular with consumers. The mall is projected to dump more than $467 million in revenue into the region over a 30-year span. Leeds' school system is slated to receive more than $32 million from the project. And most important to some, mall will bring 650 jobs.
Stores will be looking to fill retail, security, and janitorial positions.
A job fair will be held Friday, September 17th from 9am to 6pm at the Cahaba Grand Conference Center in Birmingham.
