FORT MORGAN, AL (WBRC) - Alabama has re-opened its waters to recreational fishing.
This area includes waters north of the Fort Morgan Peninsula and Pelican
Bay. The area north of the peninsula will also be open to commercial shrimping.
The state's offshore waters and those in Pelican Bay will remain closed to shrimping until more testing is complete.
Although some question whether waters should be re-opened, the Alabama Conservation commissioner says tough testing standards prove that seafood caught in the gulf is safe to eat.
