Two meth labs busted in East Alabama

CALHOUN COUNTY, AL (WBRC) – The Calhoun Cleburne County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force had a busy day on Wednesday as they busted two separate meth lab operations.

In Ohatchee, agents arrested 42-year-old Johnathan Earl Nunnelley after they received information that a meth lab was located at a log cabin at 339 Amber Nunnelley Road. Nunnelley was found actively cooking Methamphetamine. Agents recovered meth, 3 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and loaded firearms from the residence. Nunnelley has been charged with manufacturing of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges of marijuana possession are pending.

Agents also were able to make another bust in Anniston when directed to a mobile home at 382 Weatherbrook Lane in Anniston. 48-year-old Benny Lester Burgess was found actively making meth along with a 17-year-old juvenile and a 15-year-old juvenile. The lab, digital scales and hypodermic syringes were seized by the task force. Burgess has been charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and chemical endangerment of a child. He is being held in the Calhoun County Jail.

The juveniles were turned over to Juvenile Probation and are being held in the Coosa Valley Detention Center.
