WALKER COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - The heat has become an issue for students and parents at one Walker County school. That is because there are classrooms and a gym with no air conditioning.
Walker County School's Assistant Superintendent, Alan Trotter, says crews are working to repair the broken a/c units in classrooms at Curry Middle School. The system says it cannot afford a new unit for the gym though.
A concerned grandparent told us she fears for her grandchild's safety and the safety of the other students.
Trotter says there are several Walker County school gyms that don't have a/c. He adds that school officials take the safety of the students very seriously. He encourages those who have health problems not to go to the gym.
