MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - A jobs bill signed by President Obama will give Alabama a possible $149-million payout to rehire support staff for schools.
Artur Davis is the only Alabama congressman who supported the bill. Republicans call it wasteful.
State officials say the jobs bill does not provide the state Medicaid program with enough money to fully fund care for the needy.
Despite the new funding, AEA Executive Secretary Dr. Paul Hubbert says the state could face two to three percent proration for the rest of this budget year which runs through September.
