JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) – After much criticism, a Jefferson County Commissioner has withdrawn his request for the county to pay for a business trip to the Gulf Coast.
On Tuesday morning, Commissioner George Bowman took back his request for $3,000 to send himself and two staff members to Orange Beach. The trip would be to attend the conference of the Association of County Commissioners later this month. Bowman says he and the staff will pay for the trip themselves.
Bowman had faced criticism for the request due to the tough economy and the county's troubled finances.
