FAIRFIELD, AL (WBRC) - Fairfield police and the FBI are looking through evidence of an attempted burglary at an area bank.
Investigators say they received a call around 6:00 a.m. from the Landmark Credit Union on Valley Road. Someone had pulled the front off their ATM.
Police say, after tearing the machine off the wall, robbers stormed into the bank and tried to open the vault. No money was taken in this attempt.
Investigators say this is not the first time someone broke into the bank the same way. Last time, the burglars broke a hole into the wall and were able to steal money.
