BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - More cutbacks are coming to Birmingham-Southern College.
The school's president announced the cuts as the college tries to make up a big budget shortfall caused by financial and accounting irregularities and the economic downturn.
The cutbacks include eliminating 12 faculty positions this year and 17 more next year.
Five majors will be phased out during the 2011 - 2012 school year. Those majors are: Accounting, Computer Science, Dance, French and German.
In addition, BSC says the remaining faculty and staff will face salary and benefit cuts.
