BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The city of Birmingham says it will open a cooling station Thursday and Friday for people to escape the extreme heat.
The city, in a statement Wednesday to FOX6 News, said it would open a cooling station Thursday and Friday at Boutwell Auditorium. The city said the decision was made due to the extreme heat forecasted for the remainder of the week.
The cooling station would be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. both days.
The city said water will be available and groups or individuals were welcome to donate bottled water to help those in need.
