Etowah County Sheriff glad to see suspect back in custody

ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WBRC) – Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin says he is glad to see one suspect back in jail.

38-year-old Shawne Rust Farrar was taken into custody after Sheriff's Office investigators and Drug Task Force agents executed a search warrant at his resident at 39 Pine Road in the Whorton Bend community. Farrar was arrested on unlawful possession of a controlled substance, one count of unlawful possession of marijuana and a count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

In May 2009, Farrar was charged with murder and abuse of a corpse in the death of 22-year-old Nita Michelle Clayborn.

"I am glad to see him back in custody at the jail.  This is where he needs to be until his court date," Sheriff Entrekin said.  "It is obvious Farrar was continuing to endanger lives with drugs.  We hope to speed up the judicial process to have him tried for the original charges of murder and abuse of a corpse."

Farrar is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center.
