BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – A motion filed by Larry Langford's attorney on Tuesday is intended to block the SEC in their request for Summary Judgment in the civil trial against Langford and his co-defendants.
The SEC wants the judge in the case to validate Langford's criminal conviction as a guilty verdict in his civil case as well. This would allow the SEC further seek civil penalties against Langford.
Langford's attorney, Thomas E. Baddley, Jr. , filed the Motion to Stay on Tuesday. He cites that not only is the Langford criminal trial being appealed, but also Langford has never admitted to criminal actions.
The Motion to stay asks that the Summary Judgment be held back until the appeal is completed.
