SPRINGVILLE, AL (WBRC) - Saint Clair County authorities are investigating the deaths of two people in the Pinedale community.

The Pinedale Volunteer Fire Department was called to 5175 Pinedale Road about 7:30am Thursday. "Right now we have death investigation. We got two bodies. One in the house that is burned and one in this barn," said St. Clair Co. Sheriff Terry Surles.

Surles says a witness who saw the blaze later saw a man riding an all terrain vehicle into a nearby barn and later heard a gunshot. Surles says it appears to be self inflicted."We had a witness that knows the gentleman.... identified it as being him. The person in the home. we don't know who that is yet. Like I said an autopsy will tell us that," Surles added.

The DJM Ranch is a quarter horse boarding farm. Horses could be seen in the field. The ranch is owned by Jess and Diane McDannel. Folks who live in the area are shocked by the deaths. "I was just shocked. This is a quiet neighborhood. I've never had any trouble. This is a shock." Opal Moseley said.

"They were nice people and kept to themselves. Just real nice." said Timothy Neelley.

The death investigation is ongoing. The Saint Clair County Sheriff's Department is asking anyone to come forward with information about this  incident. "We would appreciate any information we can get. You always got people...this is a rural area you got neighbors who look out for one another. You got activity going on. If there is information out there we would like to get it." Surles concluded.
