Homewood Police arrest couple on robbery charges

HOMEWOOD, AL (WBRC) – The Homewood Police Department says they have arrested a couple on robbery charges and believe they may have been responsible for a robbery spree.

27-year-old Barbara Simmons and 32-year-old Thomas Lovell were charged with the robbery of the Firehouse Subs restaurant on Greensprings Highways that occurred on July 11th. Simmons and Lovell's vehicle was stopped shortly after the robbery in the same area and were found to have the stolen cash and gun still in their possession.

An investigation by Homewood police shows the robbery spree had been going for 2-3 weeks and the couple is suspected in robberies in Birmingham, Vestavia and Pelham.

So far, the couple has received charges of 1st degree robbery each, but additional robbery charges are expected.

They are being held in the Jefferson County Jail.
