Century-old tombstones found in vacant lot

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – Birmingham police have made an odd discovery.

33 tombstones were found in a vacant lot. Some of the tombstones, which were found in the 300-block of Avenue D in Ensley, are from the early 1900's.
Police are questioning a 51-year-old homeless man, who they believe may have transported the tombstones to the lot using shopping carts or hand trucks.

Police are also working to find out where the tombstones originated so they can be returned.
