BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department says they have taken two men into custody on robbery charges after they tried to take a vehicle at gunpoint.

According to the Sheriff's Department, two men knocked on the door of a residence in the 3000 block of Brandice Circle in the Adamsville area after midnight on Thursday and told the victims they were taking their car. Allegedly, one of the suspects pointed a rifle at the victim and said, "we can do this the hard way or the easy way. If ya'll want to buck, we can buck," while pointing a rifle at the victim.

Deputies received a call around 1:00 a.m. about the incident and found two men and a tow truck at the scene. The men claimed to be there to repossess the car, but could not produce paperwork to validate their claim.

20-year-old Kenneth McNeil Jr. and 18-year-old Larry James Knight were both taken into custody and charged with 1st degree robbery. They are being held in the Jefferson County Jail.

A rifle and a handgun were found in the tow truck.
