Birmingham committee recommends ban on texting while driving

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A Birmingham City Council committee voted unanimously to approve a ban on texting while driving. The ordinance passed the public safety committee on Wednesday. It now goes before the full council.

They could vote as early as next week.

Councilors say the city will not devote officers solely to looking for violators, but officers can pull you over if they see you breaking the law.
