BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Members from Birmingham's Southern Christian Leadership Conference are calling for a complete investigation into a police shooting of an 18-year-old suspect. It happened on May 26th on John Bryan Road at a public housing community in Wenonah.
Officers say two suspects were running from police when an officer shot one of the suspects. That suspect was taken to the hospital. Reports listed him in critical condition.
SCLC members say the 18-year-old is now paralyzed from the shooting and they now want the officers involved put on leave pending a full investigation. Woods says he spoke with Birmingham's police chief who says the matter is being investigated.
