Bessemer to vote on McCalla annexation

BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) - The Bessemer City Council will vote Tuesday on a plan to annex 350 acres in the McCalla area. Developer David Keith says he wants to use the site for light industry.

Nearby homeowners oppose the plan, saying they do not want more warehouses in the area. They showed up in large numbers at last Thursday's city council meeting.

After losing a battle to stop a new train hub, people in McCalla say this is another reason they want to form their own city government.

The planning session begins at 10:00 a.m.
