Army to destroy munitions at abandoned Camp Sibert

GADSDEN, AL (WBRC) - The army will begin destroying munitions found at the site of an abandoned army base near Gadsden.
Camp Sibert was a live-fire training area for chemical weapons back in world war two. Now, officials say an explosive destruction system will be used to detonate the leftover weapons.

The munitions include mortars filled with various types of tear gas, smoke and water. Most of the munitions were found buried in the ground.
