Two men drowned Saturday in Lamar County while rescuing a teenager

LAMAR COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - Two heroes in Lamar County  drowned on Saturday while rescuing a teenager from the Buttahatchee river. EMA rescuers say two men in their mid twenties jumped in the river to rescue a sixteen year old caught in strong currents.

The men pushed the sixteen year old back to the shore but were caught up in the currents themselves. Both men went under after struggling against the current. Both bodies have been recovered.
