BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Former gubenatorial candidate Kay Ivey will face Lt. Gov. Jim Folsom, Jr., in November to decide who controls that seat the next four years.
Ivey defeated Hank Erwin and Gene Ponder in the Republican primary for Lt. Governor on Tuesday, earning 57 percent of the votes cast in the race.
Ivey had begun the campaign running for governor, but switched to the Lt. Governor's race earlier this year after poll numbers showed her trailing other candidates.
Ivey will face Folsom, who was unopposed on the Democrat side in his re-election bid.
