Voting begins for Alabama primaries

MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - Key leaders will be picked in today's state primaries, from who will compete in the governor's race to smaller municipal issues facing area communities.

The state's chief election official, Secretary of State Beth Chapman, anticipates voter turnout of 35% to 38%. That would be in line with the turnouts from similar primaries in 2002 and 2006.
The polls stay open until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Live coverage of the results can be seen Tuesday night on FOX6 News at Nine and on You can go to the site now to see all of the races and candidates we will be covering.
