BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) - Electronic bingo operators in the Bessemer cutoff of Jefferson County have been advised to shut down by 6 p.m. on June 4th.
Fairfield city attorney Michael Trucks told FOX6 News Tuesday he had advised all bingo operators in the cutoff to close their doors by 6 p.m. on Friday, June 4th, which is the day when the Alabama Supreme Court ruling on electronic bingo becomes final.
Trucks said Arthur Green, District Attorney for the Bessemer cutoff in Jefferson County, is comfortable with that advice.
Trucks said rumors that John Tyson, head of the governor's anti-gambling task force, was going to raid bingo halls today in Jefferson County were not true. He said Green told him Tyson continued to be "non-committal" on the matter.
