VESTAVIA HILLS, AL (WBRC) - Republican candidate for governor Tim James says one of his primary opponents owes his father an apology.
James responded to Republican rival Bradley Byrne who has launched a television commercial that claims James success in a toll bridge and road in Baldwin County was the direct result of his father, then Governor Fob James.
Last week, Byrne pointed to an agreement in the final days of the Fob James administration that freed up federal funds to be used for a bypass that connected to the toll bridge and road. Byrne's campaign commercial calls it an insider deal.
During a campaign stop in Vestavia Hills, James called the commercial a lie.
"It is absolutely false and Bradley Byrne needs to, ought to apologize," said James. "He doesn't need to apologize to me, but he ought to apologize to my dad because he has questioned the integrity of an honest man."
