BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – Birmingham's library board has released a list of libraries that possibly could be temporarily closed to save money in the city budget.
The library board is against closing any branches, but says that it could close Slossfield, North Avondale, East Ensley, Inglenook and Ensley libraries without too much disruption.
This comes a day after Mayor William Bell released a list of rec centers that are planned to be temporarily closed.
Tuesday, Mayor Bell announced the closings as part of his plan to cut millions of dollars in spending in the 2011 budget. The budget was submitted to the city council for discussion.
