Birmingham considering ban on texting while driving

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Texting while driving is up for discussion now in Birmingham.

A ban took effect, Wednesday, in Vestavia Hills.

The proposal in Birmingham would be very similar to the Vestavia Hills law where violators could face a fine of up to 100 dollars for texting and even typing on a GPS while driving. The council's law department will review a proposal by the public safety committee.
