MONTEVALLO, AL (WBRC) - School officials say an eighth grader arrested at Montevallo Middle School brought pills to school and passed them out to other students. Another student saw it happening and reported it to the principal.
Three students who took the pills were taken to the hospital to be evaluated. It is not known what kind of pills they were or where the student got them.
Principal Sheila Lewis says there is not a drug problem at the school. "There is not a drug problem here. This is not something that happens frequently," said Lewis.
The student who brought the pills to school was taken to Shelby County's Juvenile Detention Center and charged with reckless endangerment.
All of the students involved face disciplinary action by the school.
