MOBILE, AL (WBRC) - A barge carrying a 100-ton, 40-foot tall containment dome is headed to the site of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
BP says the structure would be deployed on the sea bed tomorrow. If it works, the dome could funnel up to 85% of the leaking oil to a waiting ship.
BP officials say this procedure has never been done before at a depth of five-thousand feet. There is no guarantee it will work.
