Suspect identified in strip club shooting

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – The Birmingham Police Department has identified the suspect in a shooting at a Birmingham strip club.

48-year-old Barry Colston  has been charged with Assault and Attempted Murder for a shooting that took place at the Sensations Gentlemen's Club on May 1st.

Police say that Colston was asked to leave the establishment around 8:50 p.m. after exhibiting rude behavior. At the door, Colston allegedly drew a handgun and fired, striking a security officer and staff member.

Colston was taken into custody after being treated for a self-inflicted gunshot to the leg.

Both victims in the shooting are expected to recover.

Colston is being held in the Jefferson County Jail.
