Lawmakers to appear before grand jury on Tuesday

MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - Questions surrounding the legislatures vote on e-bingo heads to a federal grand jury on Tuesday morning. The grand jury is believed to be reviewing allegations of vote buying.

Lawmakers say they have been told that dozens of fellow legislators and lobbyists have been called to testify. The list of witnesses is not public, but several lawmakers say they have received a subpoena.

Among the lawmakers, FOX6 News has confirmed: House Speaker Seth Hammett; Representatives Mac Gipson and Craig Ford; Senators Scott Beason, Paul Sanford and Phil Poole.

Our sister station WSFA in Montgomery reports Senate Majority Leader Zeb Little, Senators Larry Dixon, Tom Butler, Priscilla Dunn, Kim Benefield, and Hinton Mitchem have also been called.
