AMSTI gets national recognition

MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) – The Center for Excellence in Education has recognized the Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative(AMSTI) as an exemplary model of laboratory education in the United States.

At the National Lab Skills Symposium on April 9th, the honor was given to AMSTI.

AMSTI and five other programs were showcased as examples of the "best practices" in laboratory education programs out of 100 major programs. The CEE says they were looking for U.S. programs that included cost-effective, replicable, sustainable, assessed, virtual, and/or hands-on laboratory models and integrated public/private partnerships, and had strategies for maximizing lab skills training.

"This prestigious recognition is a testimony that AMSTI is successfully teaching students to meet the new challenges of a math, science and technology-based world," said Dr. Joe Morton, State Superintendent of Education.
