March for Babies raises money to give babies a better chance

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – Nonprofit organization March of Dimes is raising money with its Birmingham Metro March for Babies walk.

The walk is a fundraiser to further March of Dimes' work with several baby health related programs like the Gift of Life program and the Better Babies program.

The walk began at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.

"Supporting the important work of the March of Dimes is an important tradition for our community," said Dr. Andrew Westmoreland, 2010 March for Babies Chairman and President of Samford University. "It's a great time for us to join and celebrate the progress that has been made to support the needs of prematurely-born children and their families and to also commit ourselves again to the work needed toward the day when all children get the most healthy start possible in life."
