Are you violating Birmingham's front yard ordinance?

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Birmingham's new 'front yard parking ordinance' will go into effect May 10th.

Until then, starting this last week of April, Birmingham Police Officers will be letting residents know if they're in violation.
Officers have been trained on what's right and wrong, and if they see a car parked in a front yard, they will likely leave a flyer at the house.

Inside the flyer, are directions on what to do if you have a question, and answers to many frequently asked questions.

"You need to be aware of the rules, read the rules, get educated," says Sgt. Johnny Williams with the Birmingham Police Department.

Williams says if people have any questions they need to, "go to the precincts, get a flyer or go to your neighborhood meetings...get educated on this ordinance."
