Group exhibits photos of foster children to help find homes

TRUSSVILLE, AL (WBRC) - The Heart Gallery of Alabama is doing its part to find homes for the thousands of children in foster care across the state.

The Heart Exhibit features photos and stories of children of all ages currently in the foster care system. Executive Director of the Heart Gallery, Michelle Bearman-Wolnek hopes the exhibit will encourages people to open their homes and hearts to these kids.

"These children are in the situation they are in, out of no fault of their own,"said Bearman-Wolnek, "They have feelings and dreams, and they need someone behind them to be their cheerleader and be there for them."

Liesl Bittner adopted a foster child last year. She says her new son was a welcome addition to the family for many reasons.

"It has been a blessing life changing in a lot of ways the biggest joy is to see him and my 4 year old together, because both wanted siblings and neither had that prior to this experience," said Bittner.

Bittner hopes others will see the benefits of adoption, and help these children find a home sweet home.

The photo exhibit of the featured children runs through Apr. 30th at the Clearbranch United Methodist Church in Trussville. For more information on adopting foster children go to
