PINSON , AL (WBRC) - Pinson city councilors voted to pass a sales tax ordinance on Thursday.
Pinson currently does not collect a municipal sales tax, but the ordinance will put a new 2% tax in place.
Mayor Hoyt Sanders says revenue from the tax would go to projects to improve the city, not to cover debts.
The new tax goes into effect September first.
