MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - A select panel of state senators and representatives are meeting Wednesday to hopefully find a compromise over a bill aimed at saving the Alabama pre-paid college tuition plan.
The bill's sponsor, Representative Craig ford says the meeting's general purpose is to find a compromise between PACT parents and higher education. Ford adds that the current sticking point for the bill is the tuition price cap. Higher education does not want a tuition cap, but PACT members argue that the cap is necessary.
Ford says he thinks the bill has a 50-50 chance of passing. With only three days left in the legislative session, Ford hopes that the governor might call for a special session if the bill does not make it through in time.
