NORTHPORT, AL (WBRC) - A gruesome discovery has sparked a death investigation in Tuscaloosa County. And today, officials have confirmed the woman's identity. It is 50 year-old Sherry Sellers.
Monday, Sellers was found inside the trunk of a car. She had been missing since January 2009. Sellers is also the ex-wife of former Tuscaloosa Police Chief Ken Swindle.
She was found when family members called a locksmith for help unlocking a car trunk.
A spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit admits that a mistake was made in not checking out the trunk. At the time of the investigation, a key could not be found and no odor was coming from the car.
