Bingo battle at Bessemer Cutoff returns to court

BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) - The bingo battle in Jefferson County's Bessemer Cutoff heads back to court Monday morning.

A judge will hold a hearing on the city of Fairfield's motion to get a temporary restraining order to stop the governor's illegal gambling task force from raiding bingo halls in the area.

The bingo halls shut down Friday night after task force commander John Tyson told them to close or face the threat of being raided.
Fairfield City Attorney Michael Trucks contends Tyson has no authority to shut down the bingo halls.

The hearing is set for 10:00 a.m.
