JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - Three firefighters are recovering from injuries they received Thursday morning while battling a blaze in the Altadena area of Jefferson County.
The blaze started when lightning struck the home of Jerry and Diane Springfield during a thunderstorm. The Springfields were able to escape from the house and a neighbor called 911 for them.
Firefighters received injuries when the deck of the house collapsed while three of them were standing on it. Currently one firefighter has been released from the hospital and two remain. There is no word on their condition.
