Five bingo halls in Jefferson County shut down

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Five electronic bingo halls across Jefferson County were shut down Wednesday afternoon after operators did not heed warnings of the county's district attorney.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation simutaneously raided five bingo halls in Birmingham, Tarrant, Grayson Valley and Gardendale at 1:30 p.m., confiscating machines from each bingo hall.  Jefferson County District Attorney Brandon Falls told FOX6 News he asked the ABI to conduct the raids after warning the operators the machines were illegal and giving them time to shut down voluntarily.
