BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Birmingham's Legion Field will soon get some upgrades, including a scoreboard from Bryant Denny Stadium.
The University has sold the scoreboard from the south endzone to the city of Birmingham, where it will be installed at Legion Field. The city paid $30,000 for the board, which will be replaced in Tuscaloosa as a part of the expansion project at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Birmingham Mayor William Bell said the city is spending $400,000 on other improvements at Legion Field, including concession stands, restrooms and box seating.
Bell said the improvements are important for events such as the PapaJohns.com bowl game and the Magic City Classic, which are played at Legion Field.
