Sheriff's office: man hit 2-year-old daughter over Pringles

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - Jefferson County authorities have arrested a man they say slapped his two-year old daughter when she ate some of his Pringles.
22-year-old Justin Green is charged with child abuse after sheriff's deputies say Green admitted to hitting his daughter.
An incident report says the two-year-old was taken to an emergency room with a large hand print and an abrasion on her face. Hospital staff called the sheriff's department.

"Pringles must be a pretty powerful thing. That you want them all for yourself and you can't share them with your own two-year-old child," says Randy Christian with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. "You know what, if he thought the fact that she didn't know or if he thought it was something she would choke on, there's certainly a proper response for that."

After reviewing the case, the Jefferson County District Attorney's office determined that child abuse charges should be filed.

The Department of Human Resources is also investigating.
