Birmingham may give tax incentives to redevelopment on Hwy 280

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A major redevelopment project just off Highway 280 has received a preliminary green light for tax incentives from a Birmingham City Council committee.

The Economic Development Committee approved $250,000 in tax incentives over the next five years for the re-development of the old site that used to house P.T.'s Sports Grill along with several other businesses. The new development will house two restaurants, a bank and an ABC Store.

The full council is set to vote on the tax incentive package next Tuesday. If it is approved, the developers say they are positioned to close on the project the next day with hopes of being open for businesses by late summer.
